Memorial Day Weekend

Trav and I are super outdoorsy, but between me working full-time and him in school, our time has really been cut-short this summer and most days we both get home super late, only to collapse of exhaustion. So being that it was a 3-day weekend and neither of us had to go to work Monday, we went on an all-weekend camping trip! Our original plan was to just go Sunday after church until Monday, but Trav surprised me Saturday saying we were leaving that morning! So we pack up and, of course, went to one of our favorite spots- Huntington Reservoir.

When we got there, we were surprised to see the hills still covered in snow and the lake frozen over! We were in shock and thought our whole camping trip would be ruined with the cold, but having made the hour drive, we decided to stick it out and make the best of it. I found us a little spot where someone had already made a fire-pit, and I set-up our hammocks and chairs, while Trav inflated the kayak we got for Christmas and were so eager to finally use!!! After setting up camp and making the bed inside our car (one of the features we love about our CR-V), we headed down to the lake for some fishing...

It was an unsuccessful attempt as usual, but we did actually catch a fish on our line! Sadly in all the splashing and Travis trying to real it in, it managed to unhook itself and we lost him… Better luck next time! Besides all the “fishing” it was a great time to just relax, sway to the song birds, and stuff our faces with s’mores! It was a much-needed stay-cation, and hopefully there’ll be many more this summer! :)
