When Trav and I got married, most of our furniture were hand-me-downs from siblings and a couple items from KSL. Over time we’ve been able to put our own flare into our apartment, and its been so fun to not only make our place truly ours, but to spend time together doing something creative. Granted, doing a project together is one of those things that can really test your patience with your spouse, LOL! When we did our first couple projects there were times that we probably could’ve strangled each other cause we each had our own ideas on how to get the job done, but over time we’ve definitely improved our teamwork skills! ;)
So our most recent project was a headboard for our bed! I’ve fallen in love with this herringbone pattern looking at interior design shows and really wanted to incorporate it into our headboard piece. So we got some supplies at Home Depot and went to work in the picnic area of our apartment complex where a neighbor was working on his own DIY and making a toy chest for his soon-to-be baby boy. This was also super convenient cause we got to use some of his power tools to get the job done quicker!
We spent $100 for all the materials (and even had some extra wood) which comparing to prices online, a wood queen size headboard with just a plain design can cost you anywhere between $200-$500 or more! Definitely a money saver :D

Getting the pattern right was a little tricky but once we got the first triangle piece in place it was a breeze!
