Can’t believe that we’re more than halfway there and into the second trimester! Reaching that halfway point was so surreal, I feel like I’ve barely done anything to prepare besides buy a couple cute outfits and knick-knacks for baby L. The time has just gone by so fast, but there’s still so much more to go before we can meet our little bean, which we got to find out is a baby BOY! Travis and I had our suspicions from the beginning that’d it’d be boy. We’d always refer to the baby as he or him, and at our 16 week ultrasound our suspicions were confirmed! We threw a silly string gender reveal at our home with the help of our friend Benji so that we could be just as surprised as our family and guests for the reveal!

Everyone says your second trimester is the honeymoon phase of pregnancy, and I truly believe it! Usually, if you’ve had terrible nausea, hunger, and tiredness, it’ll all start to wear off around this time. I’m definitely a lot less hungry than I was my first trimester and my energy level has gone back up, so at least that much is true. Also, the cute baby bump is finally starting to emerge and looking less like a food baby. People are actually approaching me and congratulating me, whereas in my first trimester, people had a slight suspicion, but were overall unsure so they’d awkwardly say nothing unless I brought it up, haha.

Another plus is that I’m back to eating meat regularly, yayyy! It’s not grossing me out like it was in the first trimester, but I still feel like I have super-human smell and taste and can whiff something out when no one else can— my preggo super power I guess! My pregnancy craving has moved on to my next favorite sugary breakfast treat—Lucky Charms! I NEVER indulge in these kinds of breakfasts, but I’m very much an intuitive eater and like to give my body what it feels it needs. So if baby wants lucky charms after dinner then that’s what baby gets! ;) My back pain has also gotten slightly worse, so I’ve completely stopped going to yoga and have had to pass-on certain tasks to Travis like mopping and vacuuming which flare up my pain. As you can probably imagine, I don’t miss it haha.

I think the most exciting of all this trimester has been to finally feel our little bean move and kick. At first it was so subtle and faint I wasn’t sure if it was just a muscle spasm, gas or the baby lol! But as the weeks went by and he got bigger, his movements were a lot more apparent and they give me so much peace of mind every time I feel a little wriggle or squirm because I know he’s still ok in there and growing stronger and stronger.

The other crazy thing has been to see my body physically transform before my eyes. Besides the baby bump finally making its grand appearance, my boobs have probably doubled in size and for once in my life I have cleavage! Woohoo! #smallchestedgirlsprobs HAHA! As you can imagine, Travis is loving this new version of me and tells me how cute I look pregnant, which I always appreciate because I honestly do feel so beautiful and comfortable in this new body that is miraculously changing, expanding, nurturing and protecting our little bean— it’s truly incredible. I’m enjoying every new sensation this trimester has brought and taking in all these new experiences as they come good or bad. Pregnancy has been such a miraculous and remarkable thing to witness within me. To know that my body, with no conscious effort, knows just what to do to make this tiny being and create life blows my mind everyday. I thank my heavenly parents daily for allowing Travis and I to go through this experience together, it has given us the greatest purpose in life so far.
